Individual mentoring

Private non-clinical psychological mentoring

One-to-one support for clearer thinking, healthier boundaries and more sustainable choices

Individual mentoring with Dr Kati offers a confidential reflective space to understand patterns, clarify what matters and turn psychological insight into practical action.

Sessions are non-clinical and are not a substitute for therapy, medical care or crisis support.

Who mentoring may suit

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from structured support. Mentoring may be useful when you are functioning but spending too much energy managing pressure, doubt or competing demands.

  • You are doing well on paper but feel drained, disconnected or unsure what needs to change.

  • Perfectionism, people-pleasing or self-doubt are shaping your decisions.

  • You need clearer boundaries at work or at home.

  • You are navigating a career, identity or life transition.

  • You want practical ways to manage stress and regulate emotion.

  • You are a working parent trying to respond to competing demands without losing yourself in them.

What sessions are like

Sessions combine thoughtful conversation with evidence-informed tools from applied and positive psychology. The balance depends on what you need: sometimes the priority is understanding a pattern; at other times it is practising a boundary, planning a conversation or testing a new response.
Where useful and within scope, sessions may include selected DBT and CBT informed skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance or interpersonal effectiveness. This is skills education within mentoring, not Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or mental health treatment.
Sessions are tailored and typically last 45 to 60 minutes. Where useful, Dr Kati may suggest a short reflection or resource between sessions. Frequency, delivery arrangements, fees and review points are agreed before work begins.

What we may work on

  • Patterns and pressure: notice recurring triggers, assumptions and responses with greater clarity

  • Values and direction: identify what matters and make choices that fit those priorities

  • Emotional regulation: build practical ways to pause, respond and recover

  • Boundaries and relationships: communicate needs more clearly and reduce unhelpful over-responsibility

  • Confidence and self-trust: develop a more balanced internal response to mistakes, uncertainty and evaluation

  • Sustainable action: choose small, realistic steps and learn from what happens

Professional boundaries

PPFL mentoring is educational and developmental. It does not include diagnosis, psychological treatment, emergency support or management of serious mental health conditions. If your needs fall outside this scope, Dr Kati will discuss appropriate signposting with you.
Please do not use the website form for urgent or crisis support. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. If you are in England and need urgent mental health help, call NHS 111 and select the mental health option. Samaritans can be reached free, day or night, on 116 123 throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland.

What clients say
"This was the best hour I have spent on myself in ages. I walked away feeling calmer, more focused and more like me."

Frequently asked questions

Is this therapy?

No. Mentoring is non-clinical and focuses on reflection, skill development and practical action. It does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.

Can my employer fund mentoring?

Yes, where the purpose, confidentiality boundaries and reporting arrangements are agreed in advance. Personal session content is not shared with an employer unless you authorise it or disclosure is required by law or safeguarding duties.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the focus of the work. The initial conversation will clarify whether a single session, short series or longer mentoring arrangement is proportionate.

What happens after I enquire?

You will receive a reply confirming whether the request appears to fit PPFL's scope, current availability and the suggested next step.
